But why? Why did he have to die?

So, just now I was surfing the web, and listening to play all artist: Iced Earth on my computer. (You shouldn't find it surprising that I have music playing 24/7 in my apartment.) When Watching Over Me (see above) came on, I didn't think much of it. Not at the time, at least. However, soon, it would make sense.

The page that I had stumbled upon was about a home made solar death laser. My interest is struck, so I start reading. Around page 16, he does what everyone with a death laser would do. Burn. Everything. This is both entertaining, and interesting, so I keep reading.....Then I get to page 22. (WARNING: NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART) At this point, the person that has built this death laser, has invited a bunch of friends over, including an "eccentric billionaire". I can only hope that what follows was fake, because this billionaire proceeded to pull out an Action Comics #1 and used the power of Earth's yellow sun to burn it. Ironic, no? (For those that still need to spend a few exp points on their geek skill, Action Comics #1 marked the first appearance of Superman, and is the most sought out comic for collectors. They currently go for upwards of 1.5 million USD.)

I'll refrain from posting the video and photos as I would like to keep this a family blog.

  1. "None of us understood why he would destroy something so valuable, so he explained it as he strapped the comic to the metal pole: It seems that by destroying one of the only copies of this book, he would more than double the value of his other #1 Action Comics."

    CRAZINESS!

But then I suppose you can't be of sound mind if you go out your way to build a 'Solar Powered Death Laser'.

  7. That is kind of sad if it really happened. But then again it was a billionaire and that money goes to their head. Boy will he be sad when he's poor and wishes he still had his copy of Action Comics #1.
